Music Vid Analysis

Otis - JayZ and Kanye West R u crazy - Conor Maynard In the music video for 'R u crazy' by Conor Maynard it tells the story about an ex wanting to get back together even if you don't. The style of music video is performance as it contains lots of 'performance' from the artist. Throughout the video there is six different setups. Originally Goodwin outlined these six steps in his book 'Dancing in the distraction factory'. Andrews Six Points: 1) There is a relationship between lyrics and visuals with visuals illustrating, amplifying or contradicting the lyrics. 2) There is a relationship between the music and the visuals, with the visuals illustrating, amplifying or contradicting the music. 3) Genres are complex and diverse in terms of music video style and iconography. 4) Record companies will demand a lot of close-ups of the main artist or vocalist. 5) Voyeurism is present in many music videos, especially in the treatment of females, but also in terms of systems of looking. Some examples are screens within screens, cameras, mirrors, etc. 6) T...

This animation of the 'emoji' character which appears throughout a large chunk of the video.  What is the Effect? The animation in this video consists of 3D animation. What did I like about it? I liked the connection you feel to the character, caused by how it  is animated in almost a pet like way. How does it match with the song tone? I believe the songs match to the video is not great. It appears to me like the video has purely been made around the word 'emoji' and not the actual tone or lyrics of the song. How do I think the effect is done? In order to achieve this effect I believe they used a mixture of softwares to model the emoji character and a...
