Andrew Goodwin Music Video Analysis

Analysing my own music video using Andrew Goodwin's ideas My Music Video: https://youtu.be/YLvZzU7W4-E My Music video was a narrative based music video for the song Chances Kaytranada. Throughout the story of the video you see a girl get influenced by her friend to do these things which she would normally not do, like smoke and take pills. The first idea of Andrew Goodwin's is that there is a relationship between the lyrics and visuals with the visuals illustrating, amplifying or contradicting the lyrics. In my music video there is a very direct relationship to the lyrics and visuals in the sense that the main character lip syncs part of the song as seen below. This is an obvious link because the video is directly syncing to the lyrics. However, while only a very basic relation I believe it amplifies the lyrics extremely well because, it allows people to set even more attention on what the lyrics actually are. The lyrics of the song have a very not a care in the world feel to

Job Roles for Music Promos

What are the Job roles? Producer A producer is a person who coordinates, manages and supervises a production. They work on building a schedule, getting funds, overseeing post production, marketing the project and much more. They work closely with the director to ensure the budget and more is correct and to what the director expected. The most simplest way to describe the role of a producer is that they do 'a little bit of everything'.  Production Designer A production designer is responsible for how a film looks. They are a very creative person who makes the footage look how it does on screen. They use props and costume, graphics and more to tell, time period, location, tell stories and more. They work very closely with the director to ensure that they both have the same or similar visions. Cinematographer A cinematographer is responsible for the cinematography of the film. They take the idea or script and visualise how the camera would see it. They are essentially responsible

My Songs Sigala - Brighter Days Sigala - We don't care Captain Cuts, Zookeeper - Do you think of me Jeremy Loops - Higher Stakes Top songs from others 1) hawaii in seoul This song would be good for a music video due to its chilled, laid back but also mood lifting mood. 2) HERE GOES NOTHING (HERE GOES NOTHING) I feel this song has a very different style from your 'typical' music and would make a very good abstract, performance or narrative video. 3) you gon need it This song would make an interesting music video due to the fact it contains a large amount or Korean, despite that possibly being an obstacle. It is also a bit explicit which is another obstacle.  Song we picked:

Music Vid Analysis

Otis - JayZ and Kanye West R u crazy - Conor Maynard In the music video for 'R u crazy' by Conor Maynard it tells the story about an ex wanting to get back together even if you don't. The style of music video is performance as it contains lots of 'performance' from the artist. Throughout the video there is six different setups. All of the setups seem quite dark and dingy giving an almost uneasy feel to the audience which contrasts the music. In the video we the setup we see most is Conor in a long dimly lit corridor, dancing and singing. This is a very simple setup, however is very effective at creating the 'intense' atmosphere I believe they want you to feel when watching the video. This is why it ultimately keeps coming back to this corridor. I believe with this music video they are targeting an older audience - possibly older teens/young adults due to the intense atmosphere and the sexual theme seen in elements throughout and very strongly towards the e

Andrew Goodwin - Music Video Theory

Andrew Goodwin - Music Video Theory What did Andrew Goodwin do? Andrew Goodwin was a director of music who created a theory on music videos. The theory contains six steps which aim to assist music video directors in capturing the audience when making music videos. Originally Goodwin outlined these six steps in his book 'Dancing in the distraction factory'. Andrews Six Points: 1) There is a relationship between lyrics and visuals with visuals illustrating, amplifying or contradicting the lyrics. 2) There is a relationship between the music and the visuals, with the visuals illustrating, amplifying or contradicting the music. 3) Genres are complex and diverse in terms of music video style and iconography. 4) Record companies will demand a lot of close-ups of the main artist or vocalist. 5) Voyeurism is present in many music videos, especially in the treatment of females, but also in terms of systems of looking. Some examples are screens within screens, cameras, mirrors, etc. 6) T
